Title: Assistant High School Principal / A+ Coordinator        

  


Qualifications

  1. Valid Missouri certificate in secondary school administration issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  2. A minimum of two years teaching experience
  3. Effective communication, team-building, and organizational skills
  4. Provide effective instructional leadership 

Reports To: High School Principal 


Supervises: Teachers and Office Staff  


Job Goal:

The assistant high school principal will assist the head principal with all instructional and management leadership responsibilities within the high school building. Major responsibilities include the educational program, professional and classified staff, student development, and developing effective community relations. 


Performance Objectives

  1. Assists with the monitoring of the effectiveness of the school’s curricular, instructional and assessment practices
  2. Assists with the assignment and evaluation of certified and support staff in accordance with district evaluation policies GCN & GDN 
  3. Assists in general supervision of building and grounds for safety and welfare of students and staff
  4. Assists in developing master and supervision schedules 
  5. Organize and facilitate summer school schedules and rosters 
  6. Monitor and facilitate dual credit offerings with regional colleges
  7. Assists in the oversight of the counseling office 
  8. Assist in maintaining the 504 Program that is in compliance with the Office of Civil Rights
  9. Coordinate implementation of the site-based A+ Schools Program to include dissemination of information and maintaining student records.
  10. Assist in implementing career planning activities into the school curriculum
  11. Coordinate the school-based mentoring/tutoring
  12. Assist in addressing the needs of students who are educationally at-risk
  13. Develop and implement the Partnership Plan and serve as facilitator of the Partnership Advisory Committee
  14. Establish and maintain procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs 
  15. Serve as liaison between the Rolla Technical Institute/Rolla Technical Center (RTI/RTC) and St. James High School 
  16. Oversight of the substitute teacher procurement process, which includes calling substitutes during non-working hours 
  17. Provides for effective and efficient day-to-day operation of school facilities that are conducive to a positive learning environment 
  18. Supervision at school events
  19. Develop and implement strong lines of communication and collaboration with students, staff and parents 
  20. Shares with principal the responsibility for administering the district’s discipline and attendance policies through accepted building procedures
  21. Work directly with the Alternative School staff to ensure efficiency
  22. Develop schedule to work with KVC instructional staff on classroom management and relationships with students  
  23. Belongs to appropriate educational organizations 
  24. Assists in the professional development as identified by the district CSIP
  25. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor and district office administration

Terms of Employment

The superintendent makes employment recommendations in February of each year for the next fiscal year. The assistant principal shall be employed on a 11-month basis. Employment will be secured through a written contract, which will state the terms of the appointment, compensation, benefits, and other conditions of employment. The assistant principal’s contract shall be reviewed annually and may be extended at the discretion of the Board, not to exceed two (2) years. 


Evaluation

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of MSBA Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Principals (CFB)
