CERTIFIED POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: ISS/Virtual Teacher
Qualifications:
- Valid Missouri certificate issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the subject area being taught
- Previous related teaching experience is desired
Job Goal:
To assist students in learning the appropriate subject matter, skills, and/or attitudes that will contribute to their development as responsible citizens.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with administration to provide a safe environment for students with behavior issues that cannot be completed in a regular classroom atmosphere; and work with K-5 classroom teachers to promote a positive learning environment to provide support to enhance academic learning.
Performance Objectives:
- Provide a variety of learning material and resources that relate to behavior issues.
- Manage discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Prepare the classroom for students including establishment/enrollment/maintenance of students into the virtual program.
- Identify and select different materials and resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
- Use relevant technology to support instruction when required.
- Encourage and work with students to enhance learning.
- Communicate necessary information to colleagues and administration.
- Communication with parents/guardians regarding virtual student learning needs.
- Teach a variety of grades and subjects, especially over a Zoom/Google meet call via one-on-one or multiple students at a time.
- Establish virtual Google Classroom and manage online programs for the virtual learner.
- Maintain a daily/weekly checklist on virtual student learning progress.
- Submit quarterly grade cards for virtual learners.
- Keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources and methods.
- Keep a log to monitor student’s participation in ISS or Academic Support.
- Participate in department and school meetings.
- Other duties assigned by building principals.
- District activity coaching will be expected.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment is on an annual basis. The Building Principal makes employment recommendations in March of each year for the next fiscal year. The final decision is made by the Board of Education. Salary is based on the Certificated Salary Schedule adopted annually by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of MSBA Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Professional Staff (GCN). |
