JOB TITLE:  Childcare Lead 

 

 

Qualifications

  1. Completed 60 college credit hours and/or passing score on the ParaPro exam, and/or complete Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program.
  2. If qualified, the employee will be required to get and maintain a current Missouri substitute certification.
  3. Knowledge of standard office equipment.
  4. Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques.
  5. CPR Certified or willing to be CPR certified.

 

Reports To: Elementary Administration

 

Job Goal:

The Childcare Lead is the lead instructor of a childcare classroom, providing various professional tasks that are primarily instructional in nature. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Performance Objectives:

  1. Provide direction and delegation of non-instructional responsibilities to classroom aide.
  2. Supervise staff in the facility
  3. Communicate regularly with the Program Director to ensure program/building procedures are being met.
  4. Check and prepare instructional supplies and materials
  5. Check and prepare all non-instructional supplies and materials
  6. Provide ongoing communication with parents regarding their child, concerns, events, and other program information.
  7. Create a program schedule
  8. Create a schedule for staff
  9. Provides direct caregiving services (i.e. feeding, toileting, personal care)
  10. Plan, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
  11. Prepare and maintain an interesting, inviting, and organized environment for all children.
  12. Read, analyze, and interpret administrative procedures and forms and governmental regulations and guidance
  13. Complete forms, write reports, and engage in written correspondence with parents
  14. Present information effectively and respond to questions
  15. Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  16. Solve a variety of problems in many different situations and interpret instructions presented in written oral, diagram, or schedule form
  17. Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use; Use district software for finding student information; Utilize smart boards, projectors, and other instructional technology provided by the district
  18. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, co-workers, administrators, and members of the community
  19. Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty toward the center
  20. Treat children parents and staff with respect and dignity.
  21. Arrive for work and meetings on time
  22. Make sure the facility is clean and organized at all times
  23. Attend all mandatory staff meetings
  24. Supervise all teacher aides and meet with the program director regularly
  25. Perform any necessary administrative duties such as monitoring pick-up-drop-off times.
  26. Responsible for classroom record keeping and all other administrative tasks.
  27. Other duties as assigned.

 

Terms of Employment: 

Employment is on an annual basis. This is an at-will position. The Superintendent of Schools makes employment recommendations in April of each year for the next fiscal year. The final decision is made by the Board of Education. Salary is based on the Classified Salary Schedule adopted annually by the Board of Education.

 

Evaluation

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of MSBA Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff (GDN).
